Get ready to mark your calendars because Reconciliation Week is rolling around, and the Mornington Peninsula Shire has a free event that's more than just a chat over cuppa. Join us for a Welcome to Country, a Smoking Ceremony, and a lively two-hour Cultural Awareness Training Session led by the fabulous Jillian West and Alexandra Prouse. These amazing women come from the Bunurong and Palawa communities and are here to share their wisdom and stories, so you won't want to miss it.
This workshop is like a crash course in Australian history, or as we like to call it, "Things You Probably Should Know." You'll dive into the challenges and experiences faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander folks and leave with a better understanding of how past policies still echo in today's society. Fair warning though, this session is geared towards adults because some of the topics might be a bit heavy for younger ears. So bring your curiosity and an open mind. It's all happening on Friday, 30 May 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:45 PM at The Briars Marquee in Mount Martha. Don't just sit there—come and learn something new.
