Ever wondered how an artist turns a plain Birchwood panel into something that looks like it escaped from a dream? John Baird is hosting a laid-back two-part workshop where he'll walk you through his quirky method of layering on paint, collage bits, and shellac to whip up an abstract piece thats more mishmash than masterpiece at first glance. Its spread over two Saturdays in late October, so you can dip in without committing your whole weekend.

The first session kicks off on Saturday 25 October 2025 from 1pm to 4pm, picking up again on Saturday 1 November 2025 at the same time. Hell be at his studio in Mornington, specifically 2/27 Progress Street, postcode 3931. Itll set you back $175 a head, and hell throw in most of the materials so you dont have to raid your craft drawer beforehand.
