Glass Child

is basically a dance theatre thing about family dynamics, but not the boring kind where everyone sits around arguing about who left the toilet seat up. It's about Kayah, who has Down Syndrome, and his sister Maitreyah. The term "glass child" refers to that kid in a family with a special needs sibling who ends up being the quiet facilitator the rest of the world tends to peer straight through, like a human window. Maitreyah spent her childhood watching Kayah get left out or ignored for no good reason, and this show puts their bond under a friendly, slightly unhinged microscope. It asks why we all go hunting for differences in people when we're basically running the same software.
The performance mixes dance, theatre and storytelling, so expect movement that makes you feel things and stories that might hit home if you've ever been the one quietly holding it together. It's not trying to sell you anything, just wants to make you think about how we treat people who are a bit different, and maybe laugh at ourselves in the process. Tickets range from fifteen bucks for MobTix up to fifty nine for the fancier seats. The whole thing runs for just over an hour on Tuesday 14 July 2026 at the Frankston Arts Centre Theatre on Davey Street. No pressure, but it might be the most interesting thing you do that week.
