So there is this thing happening at the Frankston Arts Centre on Friday the 10th of July, 2026, from 7:30pm to 9:20pm. It is called Off Broadway, and no, that does not mean it is a lesser version of the real thing. It is basically a big, shiny love letter to all those musicals you pretend you are too cool to enjoy but secretly belt out in the car. The people who brought you Celtic Illusion and Ballroom Blitz have cooked up a new show that yanks the best bits out of your favourite musicals and throws them on stage with a bunch of extremely talented performers. Think of it as a greatest hits playlist, but with more sequins.

They are calling it a showstopping celebration of songs, stories, and spotlight moments, which is a fancy way of saying you will get to hear all the famous tunes without having to sit through the boring bits. The cast is a powerhouse of musical theatre types who can actually sing and dance at the same time, which is more than most of us can manage. Tickets start at $49.90, which seems like a fair price for a night of pretending you are sophisticated while secretly crying during a power ballad. The whole shebang is at the Frankston Arts Centre Theatre on Davey Street in Frankston, and if you are in or near Mornington, it is an easy drive. No need to dress up unless you want to, but maybe leave the show tunes for the drive home.
